Dorin Recean, prim-ministrul din Moldova: Legăturile dintre Chișinău și București au atins cel mai apropiat nivel cu Ilie Bolojan în funcția de prim-ministru și Nicușor Dan ca președinte.

The Prime Minister of Moldova, Dorin Recean, observed that the bilateral ties between Chișinău and Bucharest have attained „the most fraternal level” since Nicușor Dan assumed the presidency and Ilie Bolojan took office as prime minister.

He remarked that these relations have been cultivated over the years through personal connections that cannot be shattered „by time or politicians,” but rather reinforced to ensure resilience „against any foreign challenges” and to address citizens’ issues.

„With Ilie Bolojan as prime minister and Nicușor Dan as president, the bonds between Chișinău and Bucharest have, I believe, reached the most fraternal level. In recent years, we have supported one another in the face of challenges, including foreign interference in our elections. However, we have also celebrated each other’s achievements with equal joy. Whether on international stages where Moldova or Romania is present, or during football matches when either Moldova or Romania wins, we share the same pride and joy,” he stated at a joint press briefing in Chișinău with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, as reported by Agerpres.ro.

Recean indicated that Romania stands beside the Republic of Moldova „at every step” on its European journey. The collaboration among governments, businesses, cultural, and educational institutions in the two nations translates into „tangible” outcomes for people on both sides of the Prut.

The official from Chișinău expressed gratitude to Romania for its support in Moldova’s pursuit of energy independence.

„We source over 50% of our electricity from Romania at favorable prices, and together we are developing crucial interconnection lines for the energy security of the Republic of Moldova,” Recean clarified.

Additionally, he mentioned that Chișinău authorities continue to count on Romania’s support regarding discussions on the EU financial framework to ensure the Republic of Moldova is included in European budget planning and to access pre-accession funds as promptly as possible.

„We are finishing the Vulcănești – Chișinău line in the south and commencing construction on two additional lines: Bălți – Suceava in the north and Strășeni – Gutinaș in the center. Beyond the Ungheni bridge, which will be the first permanent road bridge over the Prut to be built in sixty years, we have plans for four more new bridges aimed at facilitating the lives of travelers and cargo carriers,” the Moldovan Prime Minister underscored.

Dorin Recean advocated for reducing wait times at border crossings, noting that the acceleration of an electronic scheduling system will enable transporters to register online.

A third of Moldova’s exports go to Romania, encompassing electrical conductors, wheat, furniture, and wines.

„The Republic of Moldova has a significant export market in Romania. Over 1,600 companies with Romanian investment provide employment opportunities in the Republic of Moldova, and it is vital for these figures to grow: trade exchanges, available jobs, successful businesses emerging on both sides of the Prut,” he emphasized.

However, the Prime Minister pointed out that all these aspects hinge on how the Republic of Moldova decides its future.

„Moldova faces a pivotal decision this fall. And I am optimistic that our nation will choose what is best for it. Mr. Bolojan, we have much work ahead and no time to squander; we have already lost too many years. I am convinced that Chișinău and Bucharest will soon gather at the European decision-making table for the future of the entire continent,” he concluded.
